Some of the top rated comments here suggest that Middle England is not happy with Sajid Javid’s appointment Home Secretary due to his Brexit stance, which is pretty reasonable. However, it appears that his religious/racial background is a problem too.

Should we too be concerned about having a Muslim Home Secretary?

Some of the top rated comments:

1. Cynical beyond all belief. We had someone over promoted because of their gender now this chap because of his race.

2. With him and Khan in such powerful positions we will become 2nd class citizens in our own country.

3. Token

4. So a Muslim Home Secretary, what could possibly go wrong

5. We have Sadiq Khan in Londung doing an awful job now Savid will be in charge of inviting over millions more Sadiqs and Savids. Will there be any English politicians in 10 years? How long til we have King Jamal or Prince Rashid?

5. To make Sajid Javid the Home Secretary would be like putting Dracula in charge of a blood bank.

6. He'll be welcoming millions of new arrivals with open arms.

"Lukewarm" - wasn't that a character from porridge?

Correct and also the 3rd bowl of porridge Goldilocks tasted, the others being too hot and too cold.

Until the 'punish a Muslim' letter, I have never had an issue with him.
It's very sad that people have to make an issue of someone's religion or background these days. Have we never moved forward.
I thought it was common knowledge that Daily Mail readers are right-wing reactionary Brexiters - if that is not the case, why are they reading the Daily Mail?
Ick, there is one certain religion that has certainly not moved forward. So that is why there can be problems.

//Feel better now ? //

they are words. he's a politician. the only way to tell if a politician is lying is to watch closely and see if their mouth is moving. so at this time I don't feel better. actions may prove otherwise but for now, we'll need to wait and see.
Interesting stereo typing.

Isn't that the whole point of the OP, only on the other foot?

BTW the MoS is definitely not right wing.

But that is daft: does anyone seriously think Sajid Javid is some sort of jihadist or religious reactionary? It's just labelling.
Someone on The Daily Politics has just welcomed his appointment as ‘The first Muslim Home Secretary’.

/// if that is not the case, why are they reading the Daily Mail? ///

Because the Daily Mail reports on matters that the Left would like covered up.
Let's hope he uses his powerful position to clamp down on the rise of extremist Muslims in our country.
^^^because the Daily Mail reports on the stuff that it knows it's readers will lap up....

It is not daft, I suspect some would.
To the best of my knowledge, any senior politician, if asked, will claim to be a Christian, so to condemn one of them for (possibly) following one faith, when the majority follow another seems somewhat biased.

Add to that the fact that the guy has been in the job a matter of hours, is there any chance we can give him an opportunity to do all those dreadful things predicted, before condemning him for them, on the basis that hie might not actually do any of them at all.

to digress - amber rudd won the hastings and rye seat last year with a majority of only 366. this must definitely be on labour's win list at the next election - assuming the local party can resist nominating a candidate who's a conspiracy-theorist fruitloop......

I know I had a few yesterday but I have to ask this ...eh?
All this talk about Amber Rudd's 'hostile' treatment of illegal immigrants, if they are in fact illegal then why shouldn't they be treated in a hostile way and deported as soon as they are discovered?
