"the EU is urging members to raise their contributions in order to make up the shortfall.” - good luck with that!

"John Flack, Conservative MEP for the East of England, said the figures show it is the EU who should be worried about Brexit and not Britain." - indeed!

They may well do so, but are better at keeping a straight face when banging on the negotiation table making unreasonable demands and rejecting good suggestions from the other side of the table, presumably in the hope of causing enough trouble that the attempt at freedom gets curtailed.

From the start Remainer Thersa the Appeaser has been looking for a back door to stay in the EU. Either that or she is utterly useless as a negotiator. And now we have the unelected House of Lords attempting yet again to thwart democraycy. They need to go, not just over the Brexit vote but because they cost far too much and go against the grain of democracy. A much smaller (50) elected second house is needed.

Should the EU be worried? Yes and no. If they come to their senses and negotiate with a willingness to see bot sides prosper then no, there would be little need to worry. The way Barnier is going then yes they do. He is the sort who would bite of his nose to spite his face and is hell bent on making the British, who he hates anyway, pay dearly.

But then this sort of thing is exactly why many voted to go.

No. The EU needn't be worried.

The Lords will not allow us to leave.
Ever heard of the Parliament Act? The Lords can only delay, they cannot override the will of the Commons.
Ah yes, the old favourite of Bliar for that other Act that caused a stir and a few banning on here!

yes, St Tony is very familiar with the Parliament Act cassa!

YMB, snap!
So why is everyone so up in arms about The Lords decisions then?
Question Author
well they'd rather not have to use the parliament act it's kept for really important matters of state like lowering the age of gay sex etc.
The EU (the institution, that is) is not at all worried about Brexit. It has no concern for the wellbeing of the individual member nations or their citizens. Its sole concern is the integrity of the European Project. Pragmatism and common sense come a very poor second. Nothing must derail its march to a single European nation. The trifling business of the departure of one of its largest contributor nations (however profound or otherwise that turns out to be) will be swatted aside as the relentless yomp to federalism continues unabated. Some of the individual nations and their citizens may be a little concerned, but that is of no consequence.
They are up in arms because they are meant to ensure the democratic will of the people is being observed and instead are attempting to thwart it. Consequently they have proven themselves not up to the job, and in need of replacement.
