The Wedding. Different Perspective

Viewed 'the wedding' at my mums today. Was planning on avoiding it myself but she had it on while I was doing a bit of painting there so couldn't entirely escape the event.
However, I heard that there had been people there that had been camped out since Thursday to catch a view of the happy couple.
I had to ask myself WHY?
I wish Harry and Megan the best of luck but just don't get this sycophantic adulation of what is basically just two people tying the knot?

Am I missing something?

Yeah ok....
Have you never had posters on your walls? Followed a pop band or fancied a page 3 girl?

You seem to have a problem with my post Talbot?
Would you like me to go into more detail?
Those who visited Windsor did so because they wanted to and from what I could tell they enjoyed their time.

I don't need to question their motives whether they were local or from the other side of the World - good luck to them.

Cor YES! Plenty of posters of page 3 girls...
Never camped out to meet them tho!
Nailit, you're not missing anything - lots (and lots) of people find this 'camping out for days to see a wedding, mark the arrival of a new royal baby...' very strange. So long as nobody asks me to do it, I don't mind what others do.
We didn't turn on TV, stayed on Radio 4 - but it was on there as well!
Some good music - the young cellist I remember from 'Young Musician' and this must be his biggest audience. I wish them well, but, no - I don't get the adulation. Think campers-out are barmy, but that's their choice.
What about the people who camp out for the latest iPhone?

neveracrossword, Ive got no probs with what others do either. Just trying to understand why?

Good point but just as barmy in my book!
I have enough trouble working out what I'm doing and why to mither about the actions of others :-)

No, I don't.
Nailit, you say you've no problem with what others do - but refer to their 'sycophantic adulation'. That isn't how they would see it. Neither perception is more valid than the other, surely?

Talbot, then why quote me and then end with
//Yeah ok.... //
Try asking or actually answering then.
Some people like to part of a historic part of history too.

Fare point Neveracrossword,
Just telling it from my POV.
Historically that's true Patsy.
^^^^^^
That came out well!
Ahem... you know what I mean....
Some people like the build up to the event as much as the event itself
Hotels, b&b are full. Tents & caravans were welcome on crown land from Thursday eve. Visitors arrived from far & wide to enjoy the pomp & ceremony. Royal weddings dont happen everyday!
