Our Judeo Christian Heritage.

First of all many thanks to all for your recent sentiments.
I just have to affirm my belief in the fact that our society benefits entirely from our Judeo Christian heritage.
In spite of various apostasies, most notable being the Roman Catholic Church with its Inquisition, but not exclusive to them, the true biblical Christianity shone through, and helped in no small way to influence the whole of Western European culture. This was then exported throughout the world, to the Americas, Australia and New Zealand, and had a tremendous influence of the rest of the world, to such an extent that our culture is now the benchmark that other societies try to emulate.
These are just examples of how Christianity has benefited the whole world.
It is a shame that atheists unthinkingly believe that abolishing this treasured belief would make for a better world.
In our present day society, Christianity is a positive influence, doing good and no harm, and holds out the promise of eternal life to those that believe and accept its true message above and beyond its earthly footprint.

Doing good and no harm is debateable.... but as for doing good, secularism does far more.

The secularism you refer to has its moral roots firmly embedded in the good fertile soil of Biblical Christianity.
In my humble opinion that is, confirmed by my take on history.

I beg to differ, laissez-faire secularism is harming Europe on an incalculable scale which unchecked will lead to its downfall and surrender to Islam.
For God's sake, wake up!

Seriously though, who can name a country, society, completely secular that has had a superior outcome to our western Judeo Christian societies?
The atheist societies include Nazi Germany, Stalinist Russia, Maoist China, Pol Pots Cambodia, the list goes on.

Reason is the only solution to the problems created by a lack of or failure to reason. Faith and religion have contributed no less to the consequences of the inability or refusal to think rationally as anything else.

Khandro, I am awake. You panic about the possibility of Europe succumbing to Islam, and yet consistently defend the religion - because that’s what you do … defend religion. Your attitude is confused and makes no sense at all. By the way, has it occurred to you that the person most responsible for the inane acceptance of the influx of Islam into Europe is Angela Merkel - driven no doubt by her deeply held Christian values.

Since atheism wasn’t the driving force behind any of that, to suggest that it was is utterly disingenuous. Incidentally, the belts of Nazi uniforms were inscribed ‘Gott Mitt Uns’ - and let us not conveniently forget the symbolic Iron Crosses they awarded their war heroes.

As for the benefits of secularism, the non-religious are neither motivated nor restricted by dogma. Practically every major charity on earth is secular and all of those are motivated for the right reason … genuine altruism.

If you take a good look – which you really need to do, Khandro – you won’t find any good Muslim rejecting the opportunity to encourage others into Islam. Good Muslims are all fundamentalists. Perhaps it needs people like you, who actively support what you think is ‘moderate’ Islam, but can’t see the wood for the trees, to start saying ‘No’.

Why do you think any Muslim might find the suggestion that verses be removed from the Koran acceptable?

Oh yes! The secularism of the past has used crosses and transcendental paraphanalia to support their evil objectives.
But no bible believing country has ever committed the atrocities that the likes of Nazi Germany ever perpetrated.
Using a country ruled by those who adapt a perverted spirituality to advance their aims is blindingly obviously evidence for the evil that is nurtured by the rejection of God.

Incorrect. We Athiests simply believe that your religious faith shouldn't be allowed to have any influence on our lives.
Cleave to your God and Saviour, if you must, but keep them out of the lives of those with a differing opinion.

I'm not hurt......I am annoyed.
Annoyed that religion is/has been allowed to interfere with the formulation of laws of the land based on the fact that some of those Lawmakers hold (unelected) positions in Parliament where they seek to use the specious 'authority' given to them to obfusticate and reduce reasonable proposals. This authority they take from the Bumper Book of Fairy Tales....
