“…if they are rejected we leave with no terms, surely, which is the best thing that can happen.”
If I could be sure that was the case, 3Ts, I would vote against any deal, however good it was said to be. Any UK:EU deal that is agreed will benefit one party only and it won’t be the UK. More than that, it will of the greatest benefit to just two members of the remaining 27 – Germany and France. Nobody else really matters.
I said from the outset that we should leave and trade on WTO terms. Dozens of other nations do so. The EU has few comprehensive trade agreements with any of the major players including their two biggest trading partners, USA and China. Other far weaker trading nations than the UK manage quite well on those terms without being beholden to the Euromaniacs in any way, shape or form.
In any case, I think this is becoming somewhat academic. It seems Italy might well be out of the EU before the UK is. If they continue to be bullied as we have seen in the last week the whole putrid house of cards will come tumbling down. Then Germany and France can get on with it.
