Firstly I am certainly not a liberal leftie, my political stance would be centre/right if I had to classify it.
Secondly, if you read my post you will see I have acknowledged that there is an issue with immigration that needs addressing in this Country.
Thirdly, you ask for OUR thoughts and are then not prepared to consider them due to your own racist opinions.
Fourthly, I am educated and wordly enough to know that legal immigration is definitely good for this country as it has been so for centuries.
Fifthly, you harp on about having a problem with illegal immigrants and asylum seekers who do not contribute to this country which I agree with. The problem is that you pigeon hole all non white christian people into this group in what can only be described as a racist tirade.
Sixthly, examples you mention are very much in the minority of immigrants in this country and seem to base your "facts" on shock tactic tabloid articles.
Lastly, If you could put your opinions together in a well reasoned, intelligent and structured format without letting personal prejudices cloud the situation and argument at hand you might get a little more respect but because you aven't you have indeed shown yourself up to be everything that I find embarrassing about small minded Britons!

They don't give the full story but the chap had a job and was making a living here. They were not scrounging.I think this is a disgusting way to treat people There was a young lad in our area recently a refugee from Kosovo who had lost his whole family in the war.Taken in by foster parents and then deported when he was eighteen. This lad had a career as a mechanic ahead of him..yet they saw fit to deport him.To go back to nothing.I came here as a baby . My real mother fleeing Germany after the war.She died and I was adopted.Mr.S is German .
He has lived here for thirty odd years and we have worked and paid our way. Without immigration this country would not survive.Neither would other countries. The Windrush being one example. These people doing jobs that
we didn't want to do.Live and let live for goodness sake. If people settle here and are prepared to work then let them get on and live their lives.Shouting the odds doesn't help anybody to get along.
Cases should be looked at individually and assessed properly. If they are here illegally then it should be sorted out and appropriate action taken. But for decent people who want to come here and make a living regardless of race or religion they should be left to get on and good luck to them.
I have lived and worked in other countries and have never come across such bigotry as has been expressed in this thread.
Good post shaneystar i couldn't agree more with you and others...Theres nothing wrong about discussing immigration as a issue, its a serious subject, but too often it gives certain people carte blance to hit everyone with their narrow minded, simplistic and biggoted view of britain and the world..immigrants are also a convenient scapegoat for societys ills...The truth is for every one immigrant who turns out to be a waster, there are dozens who are hard working and decent...but that never makes it to the pages of the daily mail, and to the columns of richard littlejohn..
But is it any wonder people turn racist.
I live in Solihull, south Birmingham. We have a few Asians in the area but almost no black people.
Today the Solihull News was delivered and only two crimes were reported.
On the front cover story - Duo snatch bank cash. The security guard at the local Barclays was robbed. The police have said it was two black men.
On page 34 - Couple hurt in burglary. Couple needed hospital treatment when three men burst into their home and assaulted them and stole their car keys to a Jaguar S-type V8. The police said all three men were black.
So tell me how am I supposed to feel ?
Does this make me feel good about black people in general ?.
If I see a black man in the area do I welcome him, or make sure my house is locked up and my money well hidden.
I am afraid they get the reputation and negative attitude they deserve.
In all cases the perpetrators were men, but you don't make generalisations about them! This is surely like Victorian notion that ugly people were more predisposed to crime!
There are plenty of white burglars and robbers but I would suggest that when one reads about them, they would be dismissed as 'evil scumbags' or whatever. Race doesn't enter the equation. If a black man commits the same crime, suddenly we're hypersensitive to their race. Is this really rational?
More seriously, I would suggest that poverty was a bigger driver of criminal behaviour and it is this rather than the colour of someone's skin which is the root cause.
vehelpfulguy..In my local paper on wednesday, they carried 3 crime reports..one a rapist getting convicted also a mugging of a young lady, another a unprovoked gbh assault on a middle aged man at a rail station...all as it happens carried out by white people... so does that mean i can feel good about white people in general?
