(Why can't British TV talent shows be like those in Austria? No hype. No judges pontificating for ages. Just the performers doing their acts. Sometimes 'simplest' is 'best'!)

So much so that I have to drag her away whenever she sees a blind person with their guide dog (to stop her from lecturing them about animal abuse), as she's TOTALLY opposed to dogs being trained for that purpose.
I can't imagine what her reaction would be if she saw those cats!

I think that it takes an exceptionally confident ost dogs love attention and they are excellent as working animals, Police Dogs especially.
Cats - I don't think this will become new trend, it would have be a very confident cat to even stand on a stage with all those people . And if a cat doesn't want to do something it will just refuse to move.
I understand your friend's feelings but she sounds a bit on the extreme side.
