I can see why he's doing it. A firmer line needs to be taken against illegal immigrants here and in the US. For balance though maybe should he also parade families who have been killed by legal immigrants or by non-immigrants, as well as parading people (although maybe there aren't many) who've been helped -perhaps had their lives saved- by illegal immigrants

Yes it would. Not as easy as it ought to be because of the collusive effort (as with the UK and the EU) to under-report immigrant crime, or conceal the names and origins of perpetrators.

Nonetheless, there is sufficient information to show that immigrants from Central America, legal or otherwise, are massively over-represented in the prison population and especially in convictions for violent crime like murder and rape.
This is not necessarily surprising considering their countries of origin, perhaps.

One of Trump's campaign themes was the violent criminal gang MS-13 which originated in Honduras and arrived in California in the 1980s. Now, assisted by lax (or in the case of the "sanctuary cities" no) enforcement of immigration law MS-13 is everywhere in the US.
