Has the man no shame?

"Prince of profligacy: Charles runs up £1MILLION bill jetting around world – while other royals manage to fly on the cheap"

And what about his carbon footprint he is always lecturing us mere mortals about?

About time we ditched this lot, when her Maj pops her clogs that should be it.

Royalty is an anachronism, but whilst folk demand someone to bow down to, they need to accept that individual can spend what they want and subject's opinions are of no consequence.

Maybe start a government petition on ditching the lot ?
Charles is one of the biggest hypocrites known to man- when it comes to private travel he insists on jetting round the country/world at enormous cost yet thinks he has some sort of moral authority to lecture us about climate change and turning our lights off etc.

I personally support the idea of a Royal Family but it has been many years now that they have lived up to any sort of standard, Charles in particular. Camilla also refuses to fly on any type of standard airline and her laziness in attending public engagements is a blessing in disguise for the British taxpayer.
at this time, no major party, indeed no party with even a remote chance of being invited to form a coalition, is campaigning on a platform of abolition of the monarchy, or even a republican referendum. additionally the monarch here is also monarch of Canada, Australia and new Zealand (and a few other places), countries who would need to abolish at the same time or earlier; although several have held referendums on republicanism, none has yet come even close to supporting abolition.

realistically YMB, it won't happen in the lifetime of today's voting age population.
Other countries wouldn't need to abolish them. Just give them a home.
The latest royal wedding cost £6m to police. The Queen made the officers wear the fashioned helmets! That must have cost a few quid.
Melv, I don't have a link but I'm sure the bill for security cost more than £6 million for the wedding. As for Charles and his mistress, who is going to say " enough is enough" ? No one , they in truth can do what they like .
before the event, there were loads of estimates in the press ranging from £6m to £30m. since the event the actual cost hasn't been disclosed.
Does anyone ever stop to think about the amount of money the Royal Wedding brought to our economy? I'm sure it far surpasses the cost of the event.

As for Charles, he's first in line to the throne and I'm sure there's certain protocol when it comes to travelling.

We'd be insane to try and get rid of the Royal Family. It's what makes our Country the envy of the entire world.
LMAO
Although I think he should be a bit more careful, he is the future king and should have more leeway
As stated in the article - the Royal Travel Office chooses the mode of Transport, Charles should have a word there to get them to be a bit more sensible.

From the Link

The royals do not chose where to go on official overseas tours, which are at the request of the Foreign Office.
The type of transport is chosen by the Royal Travel Office.
Yep...with you totally.
When you are dealing with Monopoly money -as Charles and his transport people are, the notion of thinking about saving money tends not to enter into the thinking.

Charles is a hypocrite with his lectures about carbon emissions, but when you look at the life he leads, how could he really be anything else.
Prince Charles does use a lot of his own money in supporting William, Harry and Kate with various travel and official duty expenses.. He also pays millions in tax. For goodness sake -give him a break.
How dare the serfs criticise their king in waiting

A couple of people seem to have missed Baldrics post which he took from the link.

//The royals do not chose where to go on official overseas tours, which are at the request of the Foreign Office.

This is a ploy by the media to discredit Charles and get us all saying -----He's not fit to be King ,let's by-pass him for William.

Charles pays nothing like the tax he should.

"We'd be insane to try and get rid of the Royal Family. It's what makes our Country the envy of the entire world. "

Really?

The Royal Travel Office may sort out the travel but I am sure if Charlie had a word in their shell like he could get it changed. Other Royals do.

"realistically YMB, it won't happen in the lifetime of today's voting age population. "

Unfortunately I suspect you are right. Mind you Jezza aint too keen on them so could be interesting if he gets in.
YMB, other Royals do, but they're not the heir to the throne. I think that makes a big difference.
