The newspapers can print quite enough detail without resorting to publishing photographs of her or her parent's home.

The Police need to be left to carry on their investigations without let or hindrance.

And we have seen them with egg on their faces quite a few times recently with that one. Police are not the CPS and they are not the Court.

Photographs, and indeed names should not be released unless a Court approves it for extreme and specific circumstances.

No name and no pictures until someone is found guilty....I believe the bottom line of the justice system is 'Innocent until proved guilty' A lot of damage has been done to people who were subsequently proved, beyond any doubt, to be totally innocent by publishing names and other details.

Worrying to say the least, if she's released and not charged with this her life is over now anyway :/ Do you remember Christopher Jeffries, the odd looking landlord of Joanna Yeates who was arrested spuriously because frankly he was just a bit unusual looking? Police really shouldn't release information about individuals until they are charged.

Kvali......yes I remember that case well, not only did the press focus on him but so did the TV.....and so did AB ;-)

The populace is a bottomless pit for this kind of information, hungry for anything to chat about, fact or fiction. So the media give it to them, guilty or not.
Now, as long as it is legal, then this will continue and i must say that i read it avidly, I don't really care whether it not it is true, sadly and as i do not know the focus of attention, it rarely bothers me.

The Police should absolutely not release details of someone in this manner, lest the person is "convicted" before they are charged, tried and found guilty.

The Jeffries / Yeates case was one that immediately sprung to my mind too. There was an excellent drama made out of it, which I watched a couple of years ago. It left you feeling so angry for that poor man's plight.

all sorts of lurid speculatioon is allowed before charging as it cannot possibly influence a later trial - there er isnt one ( yet). after charging, there is to be a trial and comment is strictly limited - oops as one Tommy Robinson porridge eater of Dartmoor knows well.

it is worth a look as it has so many themes - as well as rushing to judgement. He looks like a freak and cleans himself up etc.

his mistake is to say he heard the garden gate go to the hacks and fail to mention it to the police. They swoop and arrest him on suspicion of murder. wow! - it is not him but another tenant in the house so sort of they nearly get the right fella

good scene where he doesnt recognise Alan Partridge as they all gather at the commons and demand the press be muzzled at the Levinson inquiry

in theory, no. But if the photos are on FB I assume they're widely available anyway. (Though it may be that one of her friends has passed them on to the media.)

But as sp1814 suggests, few complain when photos of non-white suspects are published.
