Hmmmm.......I don't feel we'd had got this far.
I am not sure if he'd have had the guts to jettison the 'old guard' and gone for a complete restructuring of the sqad.

I don't know how his players respond to his style of managership, either.

All I can say is, I am certainly glad that Southgate is at the helm, now....
That's like asking how we would have fared had 'the People's Choice' Brian Clough been made manager back in the day. Let's face it, there were quite a few raised eyebrows when Southgate first got the job. Right place, right time.

dunno but he would say he is the only England manager with a 100% record.

As there were when Sir Alf was appointed if I remember right. Good omen perhaps !
Gareth Southgate is the same age as Sir Alf Ramsey ( 47 ) when we won the world cup in 66.
Wonder if thats another omen that ' It's coming home'.

Doubt if we would have reached this stage of the world cup under Big Sam.
