I hate to burst your bubble but 'working towards', 'try and create' and 'while negotiations were ongoing' are just words put out so as not to make these two powerhouses look like they've achieved nothing.

The lack of agreement is clearly illustrated when Trump's rebuffed when he attempts to leave hand in small hand.

Nonetheless this is a welcome change of direction and tone by the president, coupled with the hard hitting words by Mike Pompeo about Russia.
For now at least Trump seems to appreciate who are the good guys and who the bad guys.
The US and the EU in a trade war would be a catastrophe.

Well there is no doubting Mr Trump is successful in business. To get where is has got to apart from plenty of back stabbing hard negotiations will have to be fought. Junker et al have no such experience therefore The Donald has the advantage.

The whole reason this problem exists is because Trump ramped up the rhetoric and slapped on tariffs earlier this year. He's now (apparently) climbed down on further tariffs, and the original ones that started the problem are somewhat up in the air.

I'm not sure on what planet this qualifies as a 'victory' for the US, especially as he's had to issue a $12bn bailout for American farmers who were losing business from the situation he created.
