Why Is There Always One (Or 4 In This Case)
30 Answers
Just got back from a day out in Blackpool
Bus driver told us all to be back on the coach at 5:15. All back on the coach ready for home except a family of 4. Driver waited until 5:30 and then rang his depot. He told us all that he had to wait another 15 mins for them. A couple of minutes before the 15 mins were up the family came strolling up. No apologies for keeping us all stuck on a hot coach waiting for them, nothing. A few passengers made some rather loud remarks as they boarded though. They seemed to have skins thicker than a pachyderm.
Why do some people seem to behave as though the world revolves around them like this. If I was the driver I would have given them 15 mins at the most and then drove of. Not nearly half an hour
Would you?

I discovered someone at work had organised a coach there and back so I opted to go with them rather than make my own way.
Got there ok, noted the bus number and time of departure and then spent the day wandering around. Left with 10 minutes or so to get on the coach so got tontge ciach park to find hundreds, maybe thousands, millions, billions of coaches !
Spend ages going up and down, back and forth, in and out desperately looking for the right bus number. After about an hour I had to give up and catch the train back.
Resolved not to go on damned coach trips ever again. Would have been cheaper to get the train there and back and leave at the time I found convenient. No point in coaching anywhere.

Went on a night out from work in London. It was a riverboat shuffle, we all went on a coach. When we came back, one man was missing, his wife didn't know where he was.
We waited a while then the coach had to take us back to our work place. When we got back, there was the man he couldn't find the coach and had got a taxi back. Great relief all round.

Yep! Can totally understand that one O-G
But this one...there were only a couple of coaches on the park. Near a well know land mark. And everyone else managed it....

nailit - The sort of people who can't be bothered to organise their time to catch a coach, and keep a load of people waiting, are the same people who lack the courtesy to be embarrassed, and apologise.
This does remind me of catching a coach back from London when I had travelled down to interview a band.
There I was at Victoria Coach Station waiting by the allocated bay for the 23:30 coach to Liverpool, which was gong to drop me off in Hanley. The coach in the bay was going to Hull, or somewhere, so I ignored it, even when it hadn't left by midnight.
I asked the driver about the Liverpool coach, and he advised me that it had been parked behind his coach, and left at 23:30, right on time. I pointed out that it could not be seen from the waiting area, so being unaware that it was there,I had unsurprisingly missed it, and as it was the last coach of the night, could he assist?
He was most co-operative, advising that although his coach was later leaving, it would arrive at Digbeth coach station before the Liverpool coach, and I could get on the Liverpool coach there.
Would that his colleague had been similarly minded!
I explained the situation to the Liverpool coach driver, who was most annoyed - heaven knows why, it made no difference to him after all.
"If this was a jumbo jet flying across the Atlantic, you couldn't simply hop in it mid-flight could you?" he pointed out with sarcasm writ large across his face.
My reply was succinct -
"No, but it's not a jumbo jet is it, it's a National Express coach, and you are not a highly qualified international pilot, you're an overweight chippy loud-mouthed coach driver taking this bus to Liverpool via Hanley where I am getting off. So why don't you stop larking about, giving me the blunt end of your sarcastic nonsense. I have had a very busy and tiring day, and all I want is to get home so get in your cab, start the engine and do your job and drive the flaming coach!"
Of course, that riposte took place entirely in the confines of my brain, what I actually said was "I understand that, please may I get on the coach?
He sighed and got on the coach, as did I.
Isn't an imagination a wonderful thing!!!

//I nearly got caught like that at Victoria Coach station - not the best organised of termini by a long chalk//
Cant be as bad as trying to catch a coach at Blackpool where the only coach to catch is....the coach that is waiting for you?? Sitting and waiting by a landmark that is nearly 500ft high? And that everybody else managed to find with time to spare.....

Nailit; was it one of those trips where the coach driver kindly drops people off as near to their homes as possible instead of taking everyone back to the depot then having them make their own way home. Please say yes. And please say that he drove right past the homes of the 4 idlers and they were the only passengers to see the depot.
