It seems to me that Rowan Atkinson was missing the point about context. If Boris Johnson were a comedian then fair enough. But he's not, he's a politician, and, apparently, a prospective Prime Minister. Isn't it reasonable to expect -- indeed, to require -- leaders of the country to conform to higher standards than comedians?
It's a shame that Johnson saw fit to include those comparisons in an otherwise fairly reasonable article that, let's not forget, didn't advocate banning the burka. Well, I say a shame, but it's hard not to think of it as a deliberate stunt to get publicity. In that he has been spectacularly successful, and we are all suckers for playing into his hands.
