Forgive me, it's not Monday yet.
Sounds like the victim and the attacker had a row that went too far.
Poor gentleman horrible thing to happen.
No doubt the circumstances will be revealed soon. A wee bit of patience ?
Dreadful thing to happen, I hope he will be alright.
Can't quite resist having a dig, eh, AOG?

Seems like a 'domestic' incident and I hope that the victim recovers well.

Haven't you got a S.O.H?

I am sure that Andy has, and will take it in the spirit that it was given.

Who knows, but there doesn't appear to be anything more suspicious than perhaps an altercation between the two.

Not looking for anything more suspicious just entering a breaking news story of one more stabbing.

Obviously an altercation between the two, why else would a person stab another?
1. I agree.
andy-hughes will be in absolutely no doubt whatsoever of the spirit in which your comment was intended.
2. Who knows why a knife was taken in, we only know what was done with it.

Are you just trying to be awkward, obviously at this time no one on here knows why a knife was taken into the mosque, it was just one of those questions to encourage debate.

/// Greater Manchester police said inquiries were ongoing but that the incident was not being treated as a hate crime. ///

One must hate a person enough to stab them.
I agree, however they are likely using the legal description of Hate Crime.

Perhaps he meant to shake hands and slipped?

Very droll Togo, :0)
Have I missed the humour and where it's suppose to be?
There doesn't need to have been an altercation between the two.
The attacker could be psychotic and didn't care who he stabbed; it could be a hate crime where any Muslim or Shia or Sunni Muslim, or Asian, or man, or elderly person could be the target; it could be mistaken identity or any other reason you can think of.
No hate crime, just cultural differences.

Community leaders may be able to help with the exact targetting of police resources to avoid drawing the wrong conclusions due to unawareness of subtleties within ethnic groups.
//subtleties within ethnic groups. //

But, But, But...….I thought that were supposed to be no differences, according to the social steer groups, within "ethnic" groups and it is just a figment of the imagination amongst the xenophobic?
