Brittania music club
John Myers
All Yours
Freemans
Kaleidoscope

Just have a look at yourcredit file. Not sure how far back it goes though. Most of the companies mentioned above were all part of Great Universal. Most of them no longer exist though or have been sold on/merged so you may struggle to get anywhere
I believe Littlewoods (now Shop Direct?) bought GUS catalgues in 2003. GUS used to include kays, Marshal ward, John England, John Miles, Trafford and was linked to Freemans too
Empire Stores.
I hope I've helped but i really struggle to grasp the concept of misselling of PPI with these catalogues when there was always the option of saying no, buying from a competitor or saving up and buying from a shop.
It's the mis-selling of PPI that is the problem, ff. If it was a condition of the contract but offered no possible benefit to the buyer then it was mis-sold.
I know the principle hc but I still don't get it. People were prepared to pay the PPI at the time. There was always the option of not agreeing to the contract. Was ther PPI thoug- I thought it was generally just a very high rate of interest for weekly instalments.
Anyway, sorry- better for another thread/another time
It often wasn't made clear to the buyer exactly what they were paying FF - a dirty practice but I agree it should only be claimed where it was genuinely mis-sold. The PPI I paid for proved to be a boon for me a few years ago.
The very first time I ordered from one of the above named catalogues I intended to pay for the item when my statement arrived in full - there was a small added amount on that bill.

I rang and told them I had not agreed to any extra charge and was told I hadn't specifically said/ticked I didn't want it.

I made them remove it and simply paid for the goods.

I was always careful thereafter.
Yes, but if someone was happy to pay 50p a week for 30 weeks = £15 rather than pay £10 up front then to me the makeup of the 50p doesn't matter.
Anyway, it's just puzzles me but good luck to those that get it back. I just can't work out how I got by for all these years without ever being forced or choosing to take it out.
I think the MSE site has some forums on this topic, tilly- especially for Littlewooods companies.
Oh Marshall Ward, that brings back memories. Me and Mum used to love that catalogue ..!
