spath: "Communication from pupil to parent is very important." Have a day off spath, what did we do before mobiles? There is no need at all for kids to have mobiles on the premises. They should be handed in on arrival and collected before home time. Ideally they should be left at home.

My kids can't belive I survived the school years with only an abacus and sliderule to protect me from the big bad world.

Get the tech off the little whiners and maybe they'll learn something once concentration returns.

They should not be banned altogether, in case any pupil needs to contact their parents etc.
Perhaps they could be collected by the teacher during school hours and returned at the end of the school day.

My son is in his early 30's, spath, and he neither took his mobile 'phone to school nor did he have two world wars and die from Chronic disease.....

It is entirely possible for parent/child communication to occur throughout the day without it being necessary for the child to carry their mobile 'phone around with them.

Yes. They are a distraction to learning.

Some kids have them for security when going to and from home and school but they could be handed in first thing and collected at the end of the school day.
