I suspect some of the arm chair bus drivers here would not have the reactions or attention span to avoid this kid whilst driving a bubble car never mind a 15 tonne bus. This driver was focused, switched on and saved the kid's life.
Ask Baldric how he got shunted badly in the rear of his car last week where personal injury was sustained.Rear Dash cam showed the rear car driver looking out his drivers window for a few seconds prior to impact. 3-4 seconds inattention by the bus would of seen mummy's little imp in the morgue and she want's to complain against the driver???I was aparent of young boys and am now a Grand pa of two girls. They were all taught about the dangers of traffic and Green Cross code etc. If this boys parent's cannot be bothered to teach the kid discipline on how to cross the road safely then I applaud the driver for saving the boy's life and disciplining the boy the way he feels fit. The parent's apparently didn't care until there was a prospect of compensashun no doubt.
Off to bed now. Early start to my country pile for a few days to see my Grand daughters who always ask me to give them my hand when they guide me across the road.

ummmm,
You’re dreadfully confused. The driver prevented the boys death. He ought to be grateful.
THIS is road rage by a bus driver:

I just don't think it's OK to hit someone because of their stupidity. If that was the case we'd all be hitting each other because none of us are faultless 100% of the time.
Dispute my answers I'm not a precious mother. I just don't think hitting gains anything. I would never back my children up just because they are my children. I just don't punish them with violence. I certainly wouldn't let a stranger hit them.

No argument there - the argument is, that having reacted quickly and avoided a potentially fatal accident, does not give the driver a free pass to hop off his bus and smack the child in the face.
If this boys parent's cannot be bothered to teach the kid discipline on how to cross the road safely then I applaud the driver for saving the boy's life and disciplining the boy the way he feels fit. //
That is purely assumption on your part, based on no evidence whatsoever. You have no idea what road safety training this child has received, and if you 'applaud' an adult for assaulting a child in the street, then I suggest that your sense of admiration is seriously at odds with what should be sensible adult behaviour - which includes not hitting other people's children.
//The parent's apparently didn't care until there was a prospect of compensashun no doubt. //
Once again, un unfounded assumption. You again have no idea how much the parents care, or if they are intending to seek compensation.
I trust you were not allowed such freedom to jump to unfounded conclusions during your time as a serving police officer, and I am pretty sure your superiors would have taken a dim view if you had enacted your notions of 'discipline' on a child in the street in the way this driver did.

I am sure he is grateful. Although, as I have pointed out, it does not give the driver a 'free go' at hitting him afterwards.

They are both road rage, and the additional severity of one does not in any way mitigate the wrong behaviour of the other.

Talbot - // Maybe the fact that I am the only one to raise it. //
That means nothing at all.
Just because you are the only one to raise the point does not make it a fact - we have no idea how the parents reacted afterwards.
You are joining retrocopy in making assumptions based on no evidence - it doesn't fly when he does it, nor does it with you.

Baldric - // Andy, what's all this Retrocopy about? //
I'm not sure why you feel the need to champion Retrocop, I am sure he can do so for himself, but since you brought it up -
it's the result of my computer's auto text correction - I do type Retrocop, but when it hits the site, the PC has added a 'y' on.
In typing this response, I have discovered how to stop it, so if that works, hopefully it will not be a future issue, and you can point your need to criticise pointlessly elsewhere, and Retrocop can continue not be bothered.
If my correction software does not print what I write, you are just going to have to live with it - hopefully you can.
// You really need to grow up imo. //
Noted - leave it with me ...

I despair sometimes. I've seen children being brought up in ultra-liberal surroundings, and the results are not good. Even if they don't turn out selfish, they can't cope with violence - and it is a violent world.
Faced with a bully, their only recourse is running (which is fair enough, no problem with running away) - but sometimes, rarely, you just have to confront the bully, who might well take a swing.
And if your response is crying and looking for mummy or daddy, then god help you.
Particularly if you are a girl.
Teaching children how to CONTROL their aggression through boxing or one of the more thoughtful martial arts is a way to prevent violence.

I have no idea what this has to do with the debate in action here - care to explain?
