I don't know what you're getting at, AOG.
PC madness yet again.

What is it with these dictorial volunteer groups?
Leaving aside the obvious problem that assuming that a statistically significant number of young trans* individuals are likely to be dangerous sexual predators is rather prejudiced, to say the least...

where exactly do you expect transwomen to go? They'd hardly belong in the Scouts movement, if that's defined as "for boys".

No, the real problem here is that archaic institutions -- that, to be sure, made perfect sense for their time -- are clashing with the new complexities of modern world. In practice, that means that the institution needs to change, rather than the other way round. Perhaps it would make sense for Scouts and Guides to no longer be so neatly segregated at all.

Ah so you want one organisation then?

Now what happens when they go camping I wonder?

The numbers of trans are very low, why does the majority have to bend for the minority?

I don't think I can make it much clearer but I will try.

Well they are keen to accept males who want to be girls, enough to expel two leaders and closed down their unit, while at the same time running a specifically girls organisation.

The old 'BOY'S SCOUT' movement is no longer strictly for boys, it is now a mixed sex organisation.
I wouldn't go that far, ymb. ("Ah, so you want one organisation, then?") -- I was floating an idea out there. That may, or may not, be where the Scouts and Guides end up in time, but I wouldn't say I *want* one thing or the other.

The only thing I *do* want is that this prejudice -- that is, that transgender people are to be excluded, or isolated, from society, for fear that they are really wannabe sexual predators -- to become a thing of the past.
Unfortunately Jim it can't happen. There will always be those that abuse the situation and like my example above it could impact someone's saftey or they could end up parents.

Same as the burqa problem bending to the few can risk the many.
Both my grandson and granddaughter were members of the Beavers (young pre-scout group)last year. I believe the Guides admit boys, all these leaders say is that they need to know who they are. I also think PC run mad.

/// I believe the Guides admit boys, ///

Since 2007, girls of all ages have been allowed to join UK Scout groups, which traditionally were only for boys.

However the Guides don't allow boys in and the new head of the organisation, Julie Bentley, says that's the way it should be.
Thank you for the correction AOG.
