It's like the crackpot Olympics at the moment. Now I can understand the TUC et el calling for a general strike but an MP! Will she go on strike too? Please!

Obviously thick as a plank. Imagine how thick the people that voted for her must be.
You on about Thatcher ?
gulliver - // It appears that TGT has taken over nearly all the posts on the News section again … //

I assume you mean TTT?

It is impossible for anyone to 'take over' anything on the AB - everyone has exactly the same access to threads as everyone else, no more no less. If you disagree with TTT posts, then you are at liberty to post your own views, as much or as little as you choose.
gulliver,
I would be interested to know your stance on a Labour MP calling for a General Strike and for what ends and what would it achieve?
As you are an obvious Labour supporter I am sure you could assist me by explaining the rationale behind all this. TIA
OOps , sorry new ED.
A General Strike will solve nothing Retro and I am totally against it ,
A General Election will solve everything and I am totally in favour.
Oh perhaps not then.
Most heartening to see you use the phrase Terminological Inexactitude.
It was first coined by TGM in 1906 at an election speech.
Sure you are not a closet Tory ?
Pffff maybe she has the finances to just 'strike' but i'l loose clients. Nice idea but we need THEM to do somethign which is why they were made MPs for the sake of funicular.
"A General Strike will solve nothing Retro and I am totally against it "
Quite right to. Do you think Ms Smith, a Labour MP ,is off her trolley along with the rest of the trained,by Momentum, chimps who clap on cue at the conference?
Nothing wrong with Churchill Retro , he saved the Country and deserves to be known as TGM. Thatcher wrecked the Country and deserves to be known as the Witch.
Good for you gulliver,
He also knew how to deal with a General Strike in 1926 down in the valleys. :-)
The only ones off their trolley are those thinking what we have at the moment is good or progression. We're being milked like a cow. We're in a deadlock, all this time and money is wasted on nothing. The only ones off their trolley are those with confidence in Theresa may.
Calling for a general strike to force a general election is about as daft as it gets.
The politics of the street.
Just in case you did not know Retro, " Terminological Inexactitude " is also a favourite expression , often used by the Back Bench MP [Con] Jacob Rees Mogg.
error
1910 Tonnypandy miners strike not 1926 General strike
> General Strike? What Is Happening To Labour?

It's a sign that the lunatics are in the process taking over the asylum, again ...
Retro , Thatcher thought she could handle a miners strike , Poll tax etc, etc.
Then the Worm Turned, and too late she realised she had shot herself in the foot.
"What Is Happenning To Labour?"

My question is more "What is happening to UK politics?" We have a Labour party that is now really the communist party, a Conservative Party which is now pretty much a liberal Party and well the liberals...

Surely now is the time for an alternative party or parties? There must be so many people who just dont have anyone to vote for.
I was on strike in 70's for six weeks mortgage to pay and two young children also wife not working,it achieved nothing as it did in 1926 also that made my grand parents move south.
There is as much chance of Labour calling for a General Strike, as there is the
Cons calling for a General Election.
