// Speaking to the BBC this week, her lawyer said she would need to move to a Western country for her own safety. Several countries have offered her asylum.//

…but ….

Pakistan's authorities have struck a deal with a hard-line Islamist party to end the protest over her acquittal ….

As part of the deal, Asia Bibi will be barred from leaving the country, though it is unclear for how long.

The protesters will also be able to file an appeal to the Supreme Court over its decision to release her.

She was convicted in 2010 of insulting the Prophet Muhammad, but was acquitted earlier this week.

Pakistani Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry defended the agreement against allegations the government was capitulating to extremists://

Capitulation to extremists? Clearly. What now for Asia Bibi?

//"I am requesting the president of the United States, Donald Trump, to help us exit from Pakistan." — Ashiq Masih, Asia Bibi's husband.//

First I’ve heard of that, Khandro. More here:

//The husband of a Christian woman acquitted eight years after being sentenced to death for blasphemy, but not released after countrywide protests, appealed on Sunday to U.S. President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Theresa May to help the family leave Pakistan….

According to the Reuters news agency, Cleric Khadim Hussain Rizvi, who leads the Islamist Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP) party, had his Twitter account suspended on Monday for inciting violence….

"There will be a war if they send Asia out of country," Rizvi warned after the deal was reached, according to Reuters.//

What can be done? What?
The religion of peace, and anyone that says otherwise must die.
The thing is, these are not terrorists. They can't be accused of hijacking and distorting a peaceful message for their own violent political ends.

They're just ordinary people (and a government) doing what they think they should, according to the set of rules they're chosen to live by. This is why religion is so horrible.
I'm going to add this to the thread just because.

I follow many Muslims and many former Muslims on twitter. Many former Muslims have had there say on this but it has been surprisingly (or maybe not) quiet from the other camp. I asked one particular Muslim (the guy who always appears on tv telling us we must watch out for Islamaphobia directly after a bombing or knife frenzy) who claims to be all for unity between the faiths why he hadn't voiced his opinion on the Aasia Bibi situation...he blocked me.

That speaks volumes, Talbot.

Do you think the UK/US/A N Other will attempt to act?
This religious bigotry, despite the denial of AB's foremost jurist, can be found in large parts of the UK's Muslim "community" as proved by the Rushdie riots and book-burning, by the demonstrations demanding "respect" for their prophet following the Charlie Hebdo murders, and by the recent feting of the Pakistani clerics who supported the murder of Punjabi governor who criticised Pakistan's blasphemy laws.
//the guy who always appears on tv telling us we must watch out for Islamaphobia directly after a bombing or knife frenzy//

"Muslims fear backlash after tomorrow's terrorist incident."
This cannot be simply described as religious bigotry, I think it is more complex than that alone. I've said elsewhere; the reason for such extremism from Muslims is both the desire to virtue-signal how devout they are to their fellow Muslims, and a genuine fear that they might end up in hell if they do not follow the will of Allah. They believe that hell is an eternal abode for those who enter it - unspeakable torture every day for eternity. It is described in several verses in the Koran, e.g.

[i] They will long to leave the Fire, but never will they leave there from; and theirs will be a lasting torment. Quran 5:37 [i]

If a Muslim has a genuine belief in it's either going to be, Paradise or hell and they have committed some crime against Allah's will in the past (as everyone will have) then they believe that carrying out these atrocities will nullify their past wrong-doings.

Several pages, Khandro? More like every other page. You could pick up the Koran and turn to almost any page at random and get an excoriation of those who reject Allah (i.e. Mohammed) and a gleeful description of what Allah's got in store for them.

In fact the Koran meets all the standards required for a successful prosecution under Britain's hate-speech laws,
Imran Khan; //It was lovely to meet UK MP Naz Shah and learn about all the difficulties Muslims face in Britain due to Islamophobia.//

She obviously didn't mention the difficulties faced by other British citizens by being murdered and having thousands of cases of their young women being gang raped.

She'll be the woman of "Those abused girls in Rotherham and elsewhere just need to shut their mouths. For the good of diversity", fame - not forgetting her "matches and necklaces".

Islamophobia? I'm happy to say I don't like her!
Where is Asia now?? She's left the prison she was in. Is she in Islamabad or out of Pakistan?
Good luck, fingers crossed for her.

This looks even more hopeful. There will be all hell let loose in Pakistan if this is true.

talbot's twitter on Iman Khan ( bless!) and islamophobia is replete with trenchant comment and parallels
( esp the murders of the ahmaddiyya )
Supposedly granted asylum in Holland.
Are you pleased to see Aasia has reportedly left Pakistan PP?
Where did you hear that Talbot please. I heard both France and Holland had offered to take her.
The headline says "out of Pakistan", but all it says is that she's been taken by private plane from her prison to Islamabad.

According to the same article her lawyer has "fled to the Netherlands amid death threats". Why would he feel safer in the Netherlands? Obviously hasn't heard of Ayaan Hirsi or Theo van Gogh.

// For the good of diversity", fame - not forgetting her "matches and necklaces". //

matches and necklaces is Winnie ( Mandela ) innit ?
I suppose someone will say - "same really"

necklace being a petrol soaked burning tyre
