mere detail - Paul V who was pope in 1600-5
The one in 1555 - was Paul IV - the Carafa Pope
and THAT wiki said only started in the mid 1850s - in a reaction to the spectac conversions of Manning and J H Newman.
( you know Diana applied but was refused not that anyone wishes to burn HER efficy)

This story continues, with the individuals concerned arrested for Public Order offences.
As that law stands, it's highly unlikely that any of them will actually be charged, but it has drawn attention to their crass idea of humour, and identified them to the world at large.
It would be nice if every person who posts such garbage on social media would be given pause by this scenario, and think that the careless way they launch their puerile and loathsome stupidity on the wider world can come back and seriously bite them.
It would be nice, but it won't happen ...
