Funny, we don't appear to have an election date.

of course we don't, we won't have any MEPs. but the elections are in May.

and the leader gets chosen after that. in the UK, we don't directly elect the PM.

we do have MEPs,
….but we won't. seats held by UK reps are being reallocated. we won't get a say.

yes great, we are leaving but I still think it's a curious dictatorship they have over there.
Well you need not to worry much longer ttt. (I think )
There is no election date because it is not an election - the president of the European Commission is appointed.

In an attempt to make the appointment appear 'democratic' there will be a show vote by the European Parliament however the final decision is then made by EU leaders (who have agreed that they will not automatically appoint the Parliament's choice or necessarily someone who even stood as a candidate in the first place) just as in the past.
when do you think you'll get to vote for the next UK head of government?

When do you think you'll get to vote for the next UK head of state?
Soon as the masses wake up ?
Interesting, the implication that the EU president is comparable to royalty.

Head (first of equals) of the Commons is selected by those voted for by the public.
Wonderful democracy!
There is simply no comparison between the appointment of the Prime Minister of the UK following a General Election and the appointment of the President of the European Commision. To suggest that such a comparison is valid is frankly risible.
oh come on babies
the head of state is the Queen and not the prime minister ....
I learnt that in primary skool
and that she was NOT elected.....

I thought that was the ironic thrust of some of the comments
