In my personal experience, they do look after ex-servicemen. My grandfather was left with chronic chest problems following the 2nd World War and was supported by the British Legion throughout his life. They also supported my grandmother when he died and even contributed to his funeral.

what is equally frightening is the statistics of how many veterans are in hotels at Her Maj's pleasure and thought to be in the range of 11 to 18000......both of which suggests that the Government (doesn't matter who) plus the military are really getting their demob support wrong - and at a heck of a cost to we taxpayers....
