Put simply it appears that we're back where we started, only now lacking the ability to influence decisions made by the EU whilst being governed by and beholden to that bloc. It would have been better just to abandon the whole devisive farce, putting it down to bad dream.

On March 29 next year, the United Kingdom will leave the European Union. We will then begin a new chapter in our national life. I want that to be a moment of renewal and reconciliation for our whole country. It must mark the point when we put aside the labels of “leave” or “remain” for good and we come together again as one people. To do that we need to get on with Brexit now by getting behind this deal.

Parliament will have the chance to do that in a few weeks’ time when it has a meaningful vote on the deal I hope to strike today. I will be campaigning with my heart and soul to win that vote and to deliver this Brexit deal, for the good of our United Kingdom and all of our people.

//Wait, since when were you a Remainer, Vetuste?//

Since never, Jim.

Voted against it in as far as I could to stop Heath getting elected by voting for an anti-Common Market candidate. Voted out in the Wilson referendum.

But remaining is better than May's version of leaving.

Has she added an RSVP - and if not, how does she expect to ascertain whether or not the public supports her madness?
I didn't think so, Vetuste -- I thought TTT had completely missed the point of your first post...
Question Author
VE: are you not saying all leavers are stupid? Did I miss something?
Question Author
VE 10:31: "The electorate is stupid. Most especially the vote Leave half of it. " - seems pretty clear to me.
I believe that VE was posting from the point of view of Theresa May, ie, the reason behind this letter is to convince the electorate to back a dodgy deal by describing it as the best thing since sliced bread, in the hopes that they'll agree with her and press MPs into accepting it. But it only works if the electorate swallows what are, to be frank, blatant lies.

doug: "Put simply it appears that we're back where we started, only now lacking the ability to influence decisions made by the EU whilst being governed by and beholden to that bloc. " - indeed we have a achieved Brino not Brexit, staying is better than this non deal.
i don't think mrs may has any perception as to how unpopular she is, i find that rather sad ....
Will someone please tell me how she intends to gauge public reaction - and how she expects that to influence anything?
//staying is better than this non deal. //

maybe that's the idea she's propagating - maydeal or stay....
I thought you weren't bothered about the deal as long as we left the EU?
All the signs are that her popularity is rising, though -- perhaps as a reaction to the attacks she's getting from all sides. Are you sure AB has read the mood correctly?
Naomi, through the medium of modern dance, obviously.
It ought not be contentious. Or divisive. Or harmful to either party.

We want to be a sovereign nation. We don't like a federal Europe run by unelected oligarchs. We don't like trade barriers by direct means like tariffs or indirect means like "standards".

We would like to stay good friends with you. We would like to continue to trade with you on good if not the same terms in our murual interest.

What is it I want my country which is so bad? Or so offensive to the EU that they can't respect such an attitude?
I believe the public are entitled to tell MPs what they want, or has democracy changed again?
I think VE was paraphrasing the Remoaner line, not hos own opinion. Having read Jim's copy of the letter it seems to totally contradict what we are led to believe in the 'deal'.
Question Author
ok jim I see, apologies VE for not getting it.
Jim //All the signs are that her popularity is rising//
Not with the DUP the SNP and a lot of MP's in her own party.
