So the VONC is a complete waste of time.

I guess we'll see how honest they are. But the rebels have in principle another way of bringing her down, once she finally puts the deal to Parliament, if they ally with Labour and the SNP to vote against the deal.

Theresa May holds a poisoned chalice, I do not envy her her task. All that the MPs in her own party are seemingly plotting against her, have any of them come up with a better plan? There is no point bitching about what she has done or what she has not achieved if they are not going to be proactive in coming up with an alternative. To have a Power struggle at the present time is not doing the country a good service, and that is what MPs are in place today to serve their country, not Manipulating an enviable position to pander to their own egos. Frankly there maybe a time to adjust a leader who no longer has the confidence of the party, but this is not the time, they should be ashamed of themselves. This is not some run-of-the-mill political spat, we have never been in the position of leaving the Common Market before. Chances are if she loses the vote there will be a general election within the next six months which could mean we end up with Corbyn and his mathematical genius friend Diane Abbott in power!
I do believe there has been an alternative plan floated but it has been resoundly kicked into touch.
Not because it isn’t doable but because the EU don’t want it to work. With technology already available the I/NI border is a non issue but people believe the EU (and the remainer MPs).
Project fear sits high on the wall looking down on the chaos remainers have made and laughing with glee.

"...if the EUSSR won't budge it'll be a no deal brexit."
I wish I could, but I don't share your optimism, 3Ts. One way or another the Commons will find a method to prevent that. When (or if) the current deal is put to Parliament and defeated the government has until January 21st to announce what it plans to do. Leaving with No Deal (i.e. properly, as the question on the referendum paper and the propaganda beforehand suggested) will not be among the options.
Quite honestly Mrs May's travails or of no interest to me. I'd prefer she went but that's as enthusiastic I can get about her future. I'm more concerned with the future of the UK (beyond the end of next week) than with any politician's career prospects. It is my view that she created this mess by bringing back to Parliament a "deal" which splits the UK in two for as long as the EU thinks fit. We must now rely on the collective will of the Commons to rescue Brexit but since most of them want to remain I'll not hold my breath.

"...that wont bring her down jim, they can't have another VONC for at least a year. "
If May wins tonight's vote, that doesn't stop Parliament as a whole calling one -- and in that case, the Tory rebels could presumably try again, relying on Labour and SNP support to effectively force a leadership change or force a General Election.
