I'll certainly accept their point that the current approach by Theresa May is to emphasise the risks of a No Deal scenario, alongside presenting only the Withdrawal Agreement as an alternative, in order to force that through. Where we differ -- where, I should note, almost everyone who has ever studied the impacts, differ -- is whether or not the government is selling a fiction.
I think that's an overly optimistic analysis. I mean, obviously, as a Remainer, I feel that the best thing is to stay in the EU properly anyway. But, leaving that aside for the moment, if the end goal is leaving the EU, why is it so important that that happens as soon as possible? The Withdrawal Agreement is rotten in the short-term, but it leads to a smoother and less economically damaging transition. On the other hand ripping out of the EU with nothing in place to replace it would lead to more than just "issues".
