I thought you were talking about the USA for a minute.
'Cultural differences'.
Raises the question in my mind 'How many young women are transported to other parts of the world as maids, have their passports removed from them and then are not just cleaners but are forced to fulfill other duties too......How does this country, for example police the treatment of these women who have been brought here as 'maids.? What about other countries?
yeah Junkett is right out of order, well done canary.
For what reason was he recounting this story? Was he making a public declaration of guilt and was seeking forgiveness sort of thing?

I couldn’t tell from the article why he said it.

In any case he was (and possibly remains) a spoilt over privalidged entitled *** who has no concept of decent bahaviour.

yeah doesnt believe in Santa
I was shocked
Possibly, cassa, because he wasn't going to let the US president be the only one claiming something similar. Wanted to be on the #metoo phenomenon.
well here is the el pais article on it

yeah it is in forrin I am afraid. Some ABers go stir-crazy when they see forrin - uncontrollable, wild

basically covers his fondling the sleeping maid
goes on to say HE was abused by a priest
continues with his spokesman saying there was a bit of exaggeration in all this but the prez wanted to draw attention to this sort of thing
says he is in dispute with the Church
and he is anti-drugs
I think
He is the one who said it was OK to shoot drug dealers ( you know just go up and shoot them without messy trials or arrests)
and so got the nick name
Duterte Harry

Phillipines kinda like the old Wild West but more lawless
Like many such "strongmen", Duterte has been pretty excellent for corruption and organised crime.

It's the Philippines and also some time ago so I'm not sure of the big fuss on thisone.

I agree he is not a particularly likeable person overall though.
