Theresa May has always been against legalising cannabis, yet she and her husband have become millionaires on the stuff, is this yet another demonstration of her duplicity?

Rather tenuous. Someone is clutching at straws.
"Philip May, the prime minister’s husband, is a relationship manager at Capital Group, who through Mentor Capital, are the largest shareholder in GW Pharmaceuticals, with a holding worth hundreds of millions".
Any more tenuous it would be non-existent.

Surely she’d stand to gain by legalising it in that case?
I can see the headline on “Conspiracytheory.con.uk” how:
“How the May business empire benefits from cannabis legalisation”
Give the poor old barrel bottom a rest.

ichi, But the government have relaxed the law, and he's the major shareholder, that's the point, wake up.
Being a major shareholder does not mean that have a hands-on relationship with the company.
Perhaps he is looking for the contract from the EUSSR when he has persuaded his wife to keep us locked in shackles. If you look back a way I did indeed suggest such on a previous thread.
Question Author
Maybe yes maybe no, but it would have helped to know in advance that the law was about to change, wouldn't you say?
The UK is now the word's largest producer according to an article in the Spectator.

Capital Group also has a pretty substantial stake in Lockheed Martin (7% as of March last year, suspected to be higher now), and thus made a considerable profit on the airstrikes against Syria.

^ refers the strikes in 2017, but the same missiles made by the same companies were used in 2018 with very similar effect.
I would imagine that, like the majority of shareholders, he is only interested in share prices.
But you started this discussion by implying that it was their opposition to legalising cannabis (which is still illegal) that was the problem !

NO I think he is looking for an opportunity for interstellar travel so he can fly to the moon and propose to Princess Di who is there courtesy of the Duke of Edinburgh ( hey licky he isnt an astronaut huh?) - and MI5
A relevant suggestion that has always been on MY lips if you look

PS looking back at a posters more moronic betises, plummeting depths of gormlessness so that they make observers gasp - is not the done thing on AB

I said she has always been against it! (up to recently) and it is now legal - you can get it on the NHS even

Danny, what planet do live on ?.
There is a difference between working for a company that has shares in another company and owning those shares personally. GW Pharameceuticals has a market capitalisation of well over £4billion . is it imaginable that Philip May has sufficient wealth to own the largest share of that?

Someone put out a similar story a while ago suggesting Capital with were the largest investor in BAE and claimed Mrs May's pursuit of military policies was directly enriching her husband.

Capital also have large shareholdings in McDonalds and Starbucks. You must be able to make something out of those facts too.

Gulliver, unlike you I live on Earth
Question Author
^^ Good question, which could also be directed elsewhere.
Let me put it this way; If your spouse was in a position to inform you that within a few days the (her) Government was about to announce the legalising of medicinal cannabis, would you not have been inclined to buy a few shares in GW Pharmaceuticals?
I think I would have bet the farm on it.
