Can anyone explain what is the difference between a "People's Vote" and a "Second Referendum"?

Everyone knows what a referendum is, why invent a new name? Do they think it will make some people vote differently?

Not a People’s vote just a Loser’s re-run. :-(
The title has been devised to give the impression that the referendum was not a "People's Vote".

The majority of those who voted chose to leave and Parliament endorsed that. Nothing has changed. All that has happened is that the EU has come up with a "deal" that is so dire that remaining is preferable which of course was always their intention. People who voted to leave voted to do just that, not to sign a new treaty which is equally obnoxious as membership. No more "People's Votes" are needed.
Retro, at the moment we’re all loosers
Come on Spathiphyllum don't loss hope. Want to give you a hug. We will be fine x
But thought vote outcome was only discressiomly, at end of day vote will end up in commons then Lords?
Calling it a People's Vote is clearly a branding exercise.

Well if there is another vote, whatever they call it, it's pretty clear that the majority for leave will be much higher than last time.
Is it really so clear? What evidence there is points to precisely the opposite trend -- although, obviously, a campaign is bound to have some impact.
It’s the same thing. The remainers have been fooled into thinking it’s someth8ng different.
Everyone knows what it is: a referendum. Stupid name, but so what
Let’s have a referendum first on what to call it
//Let’s have a referendum first on what to call it//

Right on, Ichkeria.

And once we've got that out of the way we'll hold another referendum on what questions the "People" will be asked to vote on.

I did not lose in the referendum. I voted leave without conditions and required and the leave voters won.
Only the SGB losers have queered the pitch and obstructed the progress of leaving because they are the losers.
Worth pointing out that Theresa May's deal was voted down mainly because all the Brexit supporting MPs voted against it. Also worth pointing out that the current deal is backed by prominent Leavers including Mordaunt, Fox, Gove, Leadsom, Barclay, etc., etc...

Remainers are exerting as much power as they can, because of course they are, but it would have counted for nothing if the Brexit camp weren't so fundamentally divided on what Brexit is even *for*.
//Also worth pointing out that the current deal is backed by prominent Leavers including Mordaunt, Fox, Gove, Leadsom, Barclay, etc., etc...//

Yes, I agree, Jim: that's certainly worth pointing out. You've read the legally binding 585 page bit of the "Deal", haven't you? Or some/most of it. Do you have an explanation for the "prominent Leavers"' change of mind?
A "People's Vote" is the new marketing/spin/propaganda name for a referendum. Any referendum, doesn't need to be 2nd, 5th, 93rd or any particular number. And we've already had one, and need no other held in the hope of a different result because some undemocratic citizens can't accept the result.
No difference, just a branding exercise, we had the peoples vote in june 2016.
The vote ceased to be discretionary the moment government said the result would be respected. So far it hasn't been. Roll on March 29th.
Maybe trying to get some more people out of bed or away from their game consoles.
It is, as advised, a branding exercise.

It sounds far more inclusive, chummy even, if YOU get a 'people's vote'.

Of course, it does fly in the face of the simple fact that the original referendum was 'The People's Vote' - and the People voted.

Simply trying to re-run a democratic vote because you don't like the way the vote went, is to fly in the face of the basic principles of democracy.
