Honestly neither do I OG, but I am naturally against it being a leaver, hence the question to remainers.

For me someone like that spouting of, even when it is supporting a cause I approve of, is detrimental to it.

Speaking as a Remain voter, no, he's not helping "my cause". In fact most of what has emerged from the EU since referendim Day has tended to push me towards the Leave Camp.

I'm not budging yet however as I still believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages (of which I agree there are some).

I agree with what our own Queen has just said, we should seek middle ground. Continually just bleating "Leave means leave" get no-one anywhere.

The problem is, Canary, for people who voted ‘Leave’ there is no middle ground. Leave doesn’t in any way mean keep a foot in the door because that isn't leaving. Leave does mean Leave.

Difficult to see what the common ground is. One either exits, or one pretends to exit in order to get maximum disadvantages and minimum advantages, or one denies the people's choice and stays. But I'm sure all opinions are worthy of earning respect, so we can start there.

I mean, he *is* the President of one of the two most powerful EU countries. I'd have thought that what he says deserves listening to, at least. Having listening, you're free to then disagree.

As to RR's question, best guess is it's a rather crude reference to Macron's wife, who happens to be his senior by several years.

OG, the probelm is that it has not ben done before, neither was it catered for, apart from Artcile 50 that no one thought would happen.

Probably the best solution would have been a detailed way out perhaps even over 10 years so neither the country leaving nor the EU bloc would be adversely affected.

There is plenty of middle ground to be had, and it is not all about "free trade" (That is anything but for UK and Germany) remember.

Listen to yes jim. The problem is when someone's country is falling apart around them and they are becoming toxic then surely is becomes detrimental to your cause., no matter how right they are?

It's a bit like Bliar or Hillary endorsing something. Vast swathes switch off or automatically think the opposite must be right then.

He deserves listening to in his own country, or maybe more accurately the French voters deserve to have to listen to him; but outside, no he's not when all he's doing is trying to interfere in the actions of another's country and spouting that to bind his unwanted federal dream together. When he has something useful to say then that's when it's worth reporting.

I’ve lost count of the number of times that’s been said about Mr Trump. Oddly, defence in support of him as president of arguably the MOST powerful nation on earth is rarely so readily forthcoming. ;o)
