Knife-Wielding Teenager To Have Lenient Sentence Reviewed

Initially sentenced to two years in prison suspended for two years after attacking a car with 'zombie knife'. Joshua Gardner, who walked free from court, sparking widespread anger following an incident in Croydon, south London, is to have his sentence reviewed.
Police officers in particular had slammed the judge’s decision not to jail him. Solicitor General Robert Buckland QC, who referred the sentence for appeal, said: "Gardner took to the streets in broad daylight, terrorising his victim and those members of the public who witnessed this extreme act of violence with a dangerous weapon.

you have to have some kind of faith in the justice system.. Even when you watch it fall flat on its face.

Agree mallyH, it doesn't bode well for knife crime and carrying when this chap got a wrist slap. Hopefully the sentence will change.

The original sentence was risible. What signal does this lenient sentence send to the knife wielding youths causing death and problems to London? Hopefully this youth will spend a few years in prison.

Savages like this need to be dealt with swiftly and hard.

Carry a knife - 5 years min (no early release)
Use a knife you carried out - 10 years (no early release)
Kill someone with a knife you carried out - Life (No release)

3.5 years still not long enough but it'll have to do, I suppose.

Exactly. They jailed that MP and her brother for 3 and 10 months for lying about who was driving a car, but a knife wielding thug is effectively let off.

Thank God there was a hue and cry over this resulting in a proper jail term (although double wouldn't have been enough in my eyes) and hopefully the Judge responsible for the lenient sentence in the first place will be hauled over the coals also, but I'm not holding my breath.
