There is little point harsh g back to "the good old days". This generation will use smart phones and technology for work, homework, research etc etc. It makes more sense to teach them respectful and appropriate use, than pretend they were never invented.

Mrs D - technology in the home is one thing. Being addicted to a smartphone 24/7 is another. I use my home computer a lot but my ancient Nokia black and white "dumb phone" sits in the bottom of my handbag and gets a £10 PAYG top-up about once every 2 years. In all the time I have owned it, I've only ever used it once in the case of a real emergency i.e. a car accident.
