The remains of the tower are required to remain in place, for evidential reasons, until the public enquiry reaches a conclusion. Then it will take around 18 months to complete the demolition because of the proximity of the remains to Kensington Aldridge Academy and a residential estate. So it's unlikely that demolition will be completed before 2022. The site is then expected to be turned into a memorial, rather than re-used for housing.
