The state of politics at the moment is such that the general populace is probably immune and apathetic to news like this as bad news is commonplace.

You know no such thing.

The big difference (which you may have overlooked) is that the UK can choose who settles here from outside the EU and refuse settlement to those it does not like the look of. It cannot do so with those from the EU and that's why the pedestrian underpass at Marble Arch looks like a Romanian gypsy camp.

Quite so. If I was asked to list the reasons (from a pre-determined list) why I voted to leave, uncontrolled immigration would be high on the list. But that does not prove that "the reason most people voted for Brexit, was "Immigration,"

If my problem with EU membership was solely immigration I might (only might, mind you) be minded to support remaining. But it isn't, not by a very long chalk.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Our economy is just as much in need of skills from abroad as it ever was. The 'tens of thousands' target has been lunacy in my view.

The reason we probably have more immigrants from outside the EU could well be because we are members of the Commonwealth and many of our immigrants over the years have come from these countries. These include countries such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India etc. etc. Why would anyone object to these immigrants and prefer Europeans? Most of these immigrants have skills and speak English. Judging from a recent hospital stay, our NHS needs them and frankly, I am grateful for them being here.
What I do not support is illegal immigration, which comes mainly via Europe and which puts great strains on our services.
