Around 1,800 people a year are killed on the UK's roads (and about a quarter of them are pedestrians). But some 600,000 people in the UK each die a year: around a quarter of cancer (140,000) and another quarter of heart disease and other circulatory problems (160,000).
So if you are really worried about risk factors, I would try to lead a healthy lifestyle, give up smoking, don't drink too much, eat a balanced diet and get plenty of exercise. Oh and live in the country, not a (heavily polluted) city or large town.
