Perhaps by their actions (although it may look like appeasement from thousands of miles away) they may prevent any retaliatory acts from Muslims who may believe they have a duty to 'even the score'?
It doesn't mena that they have to 'give ground' in any other way....

I've been quite surprised at how much these women in NZ wearing a scarf has been so praised, especially on AB. I can't quite see why this isn't considered cultural appropriation? Do you have to dress up to show solidarity? It's almost no different from blacking up were the victims 'people of colour' and that would be quite outrageous.
Are you asking me if I would have donned a scarf as Constable Evans and others did?
In truth, I don't know , doubtful that I would have unless entering a place of worship- should she/they?
How on earth can I answer for someone else.
Had I worn one and a Muslim lady tell me I was being most unhelpful then I would happily remove it.

// That is fine just as long as the gesture is returned ie certain religions dressing in western attire as a show of respect for the Western victims of terrorist. attacks.//

1970s when a sikh squaddie was blown up in N I - his pals attended the funeral at the local gurdwara ( Ni - eek forrin! others - what dat den?) and they wore knotted hankies on their heads as they had to cover them as a mark of respect
In Cracow in the ruined synagogue - I was asked to wear a yarmulka and I said I am christian and they said no matter
Young gurls in Rome in a church - you still wear stuff on your heads innit?

/// Indeed, and I notice the Mail's new policy of only showing an image if Liz Hurley if there is a 'y' in the day of the week!! ///
Oh andy you seem to have an inbuilt obsession for scouring the Mail for images of pretty young ladies scantily dressed or not.
Yes I admit to using the DM for most of my news links, but I must admit I never ogle the side bar for beautiful ladies and I can never remember seeing images of Liz Hurley in the years that I have been reading the DM news, never mind on a daily basis.
My I suggest if you have an objection towards the content of the DM, don't bother scrutinising it.
