When the predominant religion of Brunei is Sunni Islam are we supposed to reel in shock and horror at your new found revelation?
Yes Spath, a thread the other day.
It has been covered. In terms of civil rights Brunei is a retarded tish-hole. As with all such places, people go there at their own risk.
Question Author
Well the fact religion is having affect on law is something to make me reel in shock. I don't care how it makes you feel, it's a topic to discuss.
Question Author
By Tora Mamy? He thinks i'm a drug dealer so doesn't give me the time of day for a convo or discussion so i see it pointless trying.
Question Author
Seems that was specifically about Sharia law style, this is more specifically about the gay rights of those in Brunei a subsection you could say of TTTs thread
I understand Spath, reasonable discussion isn't always easy and even so early we have back swearing on here.

Good luck with your thread.
//Well the fact religion is having affect on law is something to make me reel in shock. I don't care how it makes you feel,//

It is apparent that you haven't a clue that Sharia Law is based on their religion. That is their culture we are supposed to accept.
That Sharia Law is the same law that some areas of London and other areas in the UK are being imposed upon but unsuccessfully it is hoped..
"It's a bit third world."

Well, yes.
Question Author
If you think that is "apparent" (aka obvious) then i'm not sure i can trust other things that you feel are obvious, or even not obvious. I would say, i think it's obvious most people know what sharia law is. It is (from my perspective) obvious that I personally do. I am saying why on earth will they mix law and religion. Yes i understand you're saying because most of them are Islamic, but i'm saying not all are, so why have laws from a religion? It's ludicrous.

The UK will never acknowledge Sharia law. Fact.
You don't keep up with what's going on in this country re Sharia law do you Spath. FACT.
Question Author
I understand that is a fact. But in my mind, it's absolutely absurd people are mixing law of a land with religion. And that isn't to say i don't know what sharia law is, it means that i think it is quite frankly barmy.

Surely the UN (seems they're getting involved) need to put an end to this nonsense?
Question Author
banter try take me to sharia court LOL it will never happen you know why? It's not a legal system in the UK and it won't be.

What ever communists value and do in their own community is up to them, but if i steal fro ma sweet shop best bet my hand is staying exactly where it is. Best bet if i slept with a man i would not be stoned to death.

How does sharia law have any official standing in the UK? It doesn't. It will NEVER apply to me.
/// In a statement on Saturday, the office of prime minister and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah said the change to the law would “criminalis[e] and dete[r] ACTS THAT ARE AGAINST THE TEACHINGS OF ISLAM”.///

So nothing new from that religion then.
//And that isn't to say i don't know what sharia law is, it means that i think it is quite frankly barmy.//

Then welcome to the club. There are quite a few ABers who have studied Islam and the Quran and believe the whole religion is barmy like many others. I personally make no claim to have studied that pernicious ideology in depth but acknowledge their understanding and study..
Question Author
State and religion should never mix what a dangerous combination let alone with such a (what seems like) morality warped religion. That should be a global law. No religion mixing with state law.
//How does sharia law have any official standing in the UK? It doesn't. It will NEVER apply to me.//

Never say Never spath. It has already been applied in certain areas of the UK,as I wrote earlier. People of this country are threatened and intimidated by sharia vigilantes on the streets. It could impinge on your rights to walk freely along a footway in certain areas.
