I wear predominately black clothes (at a push grey), mostly t-shirts with ordinary jeans or black jeans and have done since I met himself over 30 years ago. One of my gifts today from himself/the kids is a green and white striped ‘blouse’ thing to go over a white t-shirt (from M & S - it just gets worse, it looks like a Pacer wrapping). I’m not being ungrateful - but what was he thinking? I know I’m knocking on a bit but it’s bloody hideous. I now have to hatch a plan to get out of wearing it (seriously, it’s awful) - I thought it was pj’s when I opened it.

Maybe he’s giving you a message. If Mrs Z dressed in grey and black.......she wouldn’t be Mrs z anymore. Maybe he’s saying he’s bored with your look?
Try it on and ask him sincerely, does he think it suits you.

Then work from there when he's answered.
Stop trying to wrigley out of wearing it.
Stop beating about the bush Zacs and say what you mean! :/

No idea Sherr- have it meet with a nasty accident in front of him and lament it's downfall- that's what I'd do :)
Seems obvious to me. Sorry for being so forthright.

Seriously Zac? He’s my husband not my keeper.

There’s not one redeeming feature to it for my liking, I can’t even palm it off on my eldest daughter, it’d be child cruelty.
Crikey, that’s a bit of a dramatic reaction, sherr. Maybe he’s just done that typically bloke thing of ignoring what you’ve worn for the past 20 years.
wash the blouse, hang it on washing line and accidentally get the wire bits of the pegs tangled in it and un-untangling caused holes which makes the blouse unwearable.
I think M&S things are easy to return - but honestly have looked at what I think it is and it's really not that bad, just an innocuous mint and white striped shirt. You could dye it?
Yeah go on, dye it black! Just for the craic :)
The only trouble with it having an accident is - he may get a replacement.

If you can demonstrate nicely that it really isn't you then you could try for an exchange.
Can you make it not fit and tell him you'll return it for the correct size then get something else and tell him they didn't have any?
Of husband, or blouse?
This isn't any unwanted gift, it's a......

I’m just really surprised at his choice, usually he just gets something plain and dark. Comfy, casual stuff. It’s the colour (might not be so bad if it’s wasnt stripey) and fussy little tie things to roll up the sleeves. It’s just a bit twee (for me). I know I’m knocking on but I’m hardly ready for a blue rinse.
Do what I do if I'm bought something I don't like ( ie Christmas, Birthday etc ) just don't wear it. Put it in the wardrobe or draw and forget about it.

Eldest has just got in and I asked him to have a look at the shirt. He called it a ‘bold choice’ and told me not to wear it - I feel better now. I just feel bad that I’m not going to wear it but not actually bad enough to wear it.
Spicey for BA- that's hilarious :) x
Wear it to bed and when he asks why?, tell him you thought it was a PJ top.
I would have asked my OH, nicely, for the receipt, I can't disguise my reactions so it's pointless trying to.

I doubt my OH would buy me something out of my comfort zone. He's only bought me hoodies in the past.
