The Diane Abbott Thread.
I'm too late to join the thread below following its closure due to AOG and RR getting into a (pathetic) spat, so I thought I'd add my two penn'orth by opening a new thread.
I cannot stand Abbott with an all encompassing passion that borders on irrationality. I hate the fact she felt her child was too good for the schools that she stated her constituents should support, I can't stand the fact that she is the very definition of tokenism given she's been promoted way beyond her limited abilities and intelligence, and I am scared witless that potentially she could be in charge of the nations security.
I hate this woman.
But....she was having a harmless drink on a train. She wasn't bothering anybody, she wasn't drunk and causing a problem, so I really can't see why there is such a brouhaha (love that word). She should be left alone.
Hopefully this thread will stay open without people spoiling it.

there'd be some very different reactions had it been Farage not from me there wouldn't. Crowds of drunken yobs may be a problem but a politician with a mojito I couldn't care less, whether's it's Abbott or Tommy Robinson.

According to the BBC - Under TfL's conditions of carriage "anyone caught consuming alcohol may be prosecuted"

"Any fool can make a rule. And any fool will mind it". Henry Thoreau.
Some rules are just silly.
I now fully expect somebody to suggest something along the lines of if you believe that then the logical conclusion is that if you feel murder is acceptable you can ignore the law that forbids it. A stupid point of view but I'm sure some people will try to go down that road.

per the closed thread. alcohol is proscribed under the conditions of carriage. if caught and refuse to desist, the miscreant can be arrested for a public order offence - rather than the consumption of alcohol itself.

Politicians, not even black female politicians are above the law and just because it was a middle class tipple from M&S and not the white lightning super strength drunken yob level doesn’t mean she should get away with it.
She has been a politician for long enough and gets castigated by the public and press for being an idiot should mean she takes more care.
But apparently not.
