/// I'm surprised ANOTHEOLDGIT hasn't changed his avatar to show the English flag for to-day ///

No need to my jpg link says it all.

But having said that, apart from TTT and Baldric, it would seem there are not many English persons on this thread.

Happy St George's Day!

/// I can only assume that you are not a true English person.///

Nor was Saint George - he was a Greek.
Lol mamya he’s just miffed that he didn’t get an invite!
Thanks for the G&T though spiffing it was!

Saint George was born in Turkey to a Turkish father and Palestinian mother. He lived in the Middle East and died at the hands of the Romans who persecuted him because of his faith
Sorry I got my St George threads mixed up :-)
St George was certainly not Turkish. He was ethnically a Greek - a Cappadocian Greek: Cappadocia (not itself a Greek province) being a part of ancient Anatolia. Those regions only became Turkic over time as the tribes moved west.
And modern Turkey is a comparatively new county.
George is a Greek name :-)
There are lots of St George's flags flying in my area in the West Midlands and several special events will be on this coming weekend.
My local tearoom is putting on an English Afternoon Tea event this afternoon complete with traditional English cakes and hot muffins.
