Having read the link you provided it explains, this week's protests have come to a close.

They had a ceremony.

Is that the last we'll hear of them ? I doubt it very much.
And it's their own ruddy fault if they're rednecks. They, of all people, should have known enough to wear sun-block.
I hate to hear that word used as an insult since it stemmed from poor farmers scratching a living who had red necks from hour and hours of hard manual labour in the fields.
It's popular use now is for unsophisticated right wing boondock boys.
Neither of these meaning fit your usage TTT.
It isn't a term I have ever used, also hard to use just one word to describe a group of thousands of people of all ages from all walks of life.
ooops that's told you ttt
better wind your (red) neck in
Jeez...that makes my lovely hard working OH a redneck. He's ginger, his neck is red from working outside.
He needs protection ummm ;*)
Yeah we need bringing in from about 11.00am til 4.00 ish Ummm :)
As many other terms do, "rednecks" has many meanings, interpretations, and, I suppose, innuendoes, attached to them. Actually, in West Virginia and other portions of Appalachia, many residents of proud of that term in that it stems back to the time they stood together to fight both the government and the mine owners. Unfortunately it is often used in a derogatory manner. Anyway, I'm just pointing out there are more ramifications to the term than dirt-farmers toiling away.
We Scots need Factor 15 when there's a full moon
Rednecks aren't they American, I thought we only had dirtynecks over here.
My brother once unkindly said I look like I've been carved out of lard I'm so pale- I'd have gone alabaster or pearl myself, but I suppose lard covers it lol ;)
End of school and Uni holidays this weekend?
Tonyav Rednecks and their moon shine stills in Texas wonderful brew.
Are you implying, TonyV, that they will be flocking back to their hallowed halls; the sheltered cloisters; the grandiose quads; and the verdant lawns where they will sit cross-legged earnestly discussing deep subjects whilst the joyful larks frolic above? Or are you just saying that the little *** are going back to school?
You'd be hard pushed to say that for all, some were older, many retired and one gentleman arrested was 83.

He could be a mature student of course.
perhaps both Sanmac. The Oxbridge cities are beautiful providing you can punt.
Yes, mamy, there were some obvious outliers there, and their photos made good press.
Yes Lynne think tally for arrests is over 1100 now.
Not many "rednecks" as the term is usually used in this particular protest.

After a week of living in the tent time to pack it all away and get back to Berkshire in the 4x4.

Amusing to see the patronising defence of the real "rednecks" (i.e. poor and stupid people who lack the competence to use the vote - Trump voters, deplorables, Brexiteers, all that lot ).

Maybe - and in their own best interests - they ought to have their franchise rights surrogated to benign custodians under some kind of lasting power of attorney principle. Something for Britain's next Home Secretary to consider.
