Diversity in TV programmes is nothing new but in the past Black and Asian actors were brought in without the fuss and palava that is being made today.
Just take a look at the three main Soaps-- Since the 80s ,Corrie has had at least 18 Black or Asian actors, Eastenders approx the same number and Emmerdale at least 8. There have been actors in these soaps with-- Downs syndrome, deafness, Cerebral Palsy, Autism,actors in wheelchairs.Each of them making a valuable contribution to the programmes.
There have been several other dramas and programmes, too numerous to name ,that have had black actors
I don't think we now need lecturing on diversity least of all have a panel deciding on quotas!
