Or maybe you agree with it.
Sorry it's behind a paywall but I'm sure you get the gist. I have the article in front of me if you want more info.

I don't suppose anybody ever thought of saying 'no' to these constant chippers away. It's quite easy, doesn't take any effort at all.

I'm assuming the controversy was the point of the art.
I personally don't think art should be censored but then I'm quite hard to outrage or offend and i like to be provoked. If you are deeply religious I imagine that it's easier for you to become offended.
When we aren't the offended ones it's easy to push the offence to one side and unimportant or meaningless, but I wonder how most people would feel if it was for example a painting of a little girl with graphic sexual desires written across it? Would quite a few more of us be unsettled and offended by that? I think we would. Would some of us complain that it is wrong, offensive and unpleasant and maybe ask for it to be taken down? I suspect so.
When we view it like that we can at least understand the motivation of those who complain. I personally don't think it should have been covered but I understand why it upset some people.

I totally agree with Calicogirl. The artwork could have been confined behind a barrier of some sort with a caveat for the more sensitive Art enthusiasts. Some of Dalis work in the MAMVP in Paris was displayed to over 18's only with caveat. Some of these drawings showed Christian themes along with masturbation and although I'm not easily offended by Art Work they really did make me think how offensive they would be to devout Christians.

CallieB, /many hundreds of thousands of Muslims Britain IS their home/ seems they take offence to a lot of western things, yet they still want to live here, it's not for the weather, so what is it, benefit system
nhs schools etc etc, i think they should up sticks and move to a muslim country, the ones who complain and berate the uk and western values
including art.

Liked Calico Girl's 5 o'clock post. Makes clear the kind of issues when cultures meet and sometimes collide. Must respond lucidly tomorrow. Tonight been kicking the cats (all six of them), feeding the free-loading "Number Seven" - he's too well groomed to be a stray, watching "Line of Duty" more out of a sense of duty than any special pleasure in the series (the late Corbett actor's performance apart), and watching the level in the bacardi bottle sink, which I think may be due to evaporation.
