Ms Abbot did not agree with this but with great fanfare this new initiative was trotted out to reduce moped crime. Already there have been positive results with about 50% reduction.
No wonder Police Officers are leaving their respective forces in droves. The morale is already rock bottom.

quite right balders.
Vulcan, it is indeed!
Balric .... Just take the Scum down any way that's possible!

to me sounds like a L'pool fan. On this subject I'm inclined to agree with him.
I'm sure a large number of Police would like guidelines to be scrapped and anything goes where suspects are concerned, would we in the long run though?
Can't see a problem with this at all, the actions of the PC that is.

As TTT (and non of it rubbish apart from for those right-on people) says it's only a low life riding on the pavement who could have killed some innocent so it had to be stopped.

He should be getting a commendation not the old tin tack.

No wonder criminals in this country are running riot, too many hand wringers.
nice to see another hang em high thread developing normally

has it occurred to anyone that if the police are armed ( say) they cant just shoot anyone ?

No it clearly hasnt

and so - - - since some Abers are slow on the uptake, that if driving down a mopedder is approved then you cant do it to anyone at all ?

not it hasnt to that either - - - Jesus

anyway carry on spluttering....
actually I wonder the spanish police didnt just shoot him

( commonplace apparently and eveeryone shrugs their shoulders and says the man/woman/child/dog shouldnt have been near there anyway)
If it's any consolation to him, it seems the vast majority of the public are on his side.
The police rightfully taking out a felon without apparent harm is big news, and condemned by the usual apologists, but this "incident" causes not a ripple in the conscience of the switched on right on.
Funny Old World.

Understandably so Spicerack, no one wants to see a decent Officer sacked - it depends how long the hearing lasts, scheduled for 7th-10th.
That incident didn't cause a ripple?

What strange people, it's horrendous.
At least the perp was sentenced to a whole month 'community order'.
No wonder some of the police lock the car doors and probably slink down in the seat a bit when they see trouble brewing.
The use of a perfectly reasonable tactic should not result in disciplinary measures.

Balders @1530.
Too damn right.

//Met Police Federation chairman Ken Marsh told The Sun: “What message does this case send?

“We believe this officer acted within guidelines, but is being fed to the wolves. It’s not right.”//

It would appear the Police Federation agree the officer acted within
the guidelines.
Danny. As a former Police Sergeant I think you may agree that a Federation Rep ,who should be fully cognisant with the guidelines that his members must obey, would not claim the officer acted within the guide lines to the press if indeed the officer had not.
douglas - // The use of a perfectly reasonable tactic should not result in disciplinary measures. //

The superiors of the officer concerned obviously disagree with you that the tactic was 'perfectly reasonable' - hence the disciplinary proceedings.
this wouldn't go down well in sunny London then.....

vulcan and I on the same wavelength then!
But you're both in Spain, we aren't and this wasn't a bank robbery.

Let's see how the hearing goes.
