By the by that article claims that the Brexit campaign was led by “mainstream” politicians. In actual fact it’s debatable to what extent “mainstream” politicians “led” the Brexit campaign. They were there, but they were really led by a man who was very much an outsider who despised the lot of them and hated Farage and Banks even more.
It’s always indeed more complicated than it seems under the surface. Which is the chief reason why lumping “the people” together is such a fallacy of so-called populism. In that respect Maggie was right to say there is no such thing as “society”. She was the biggest anti populist of the lot in many ways.

Well, OK, yes, I agree that it's misplaced. But, all the same: no Brexit supporter of TTT's ilk can be anything other than furious about how things have played out. Remain supporters are also angry, I should think, even if it's for very different reasons.
Regardless, anger is a damaging force in politics. And anyone who deliberately taps into it, and indeed stirs it up even further, should be seen for the conman that they are. Farage offers you nothing.

When all it takes is to copy the form of a shaved Orang Utan by wearing a baseball cap and shouting 'fake news' at everything remotely disagreed with then all hope is lost.
At least until the great unwashed tire of being upright for extended periods and slope off back to the couch to loll about in front of the telly and moan about 'bloody Poles' coming over here and taking jobs that they're too lazy to do anyway.

I think the public have been primed for a massive backlash for years... only now have the MPs deliberately lit the fuse.
If Farage achieves nothing more than removing some arrogance and ignorance from the other parties, then that is still an achievement. People are fed up with not being listened to, when they have actually been asked.

Sure jim: that’s why I say one perfectly understands the anger.
But remember the scenes of jubilation outside Parliament by the leave and remain brigades alike when May’s deal was voted down?
So the hopeless at Westminster got something right :-)
Admittedly this was jubilation on the part of the sort of people who would take their different flags and their flasks to Parliament square to shout and wave at BBC and Sky cameras etc. So not necessarily representative of the majority.
But then who is?
