// a disgraced former aide to Farage who was imprisoned in the US after being caught offering money laundering services to undercover federal agents. George Cottrell was with Farage when he was arrested at Chicago O’Hare airport in July 2016. He had been working in Farage’s office and claimed on his LinkedIn account to have co-directed Ukip’s EU referendum campaign fundraising.

He was charged with 21 counts including money laundering, wire fraud, blackmail and extortion. He would later plead guilty to participating in a scheme to “advertise money laundering services on a Tor network black market website” and served eight months in prison.

The Guardian understands that Cottrell has told friends that he is now overseeing the Brexit party’s fundraising operation. On Sunday the Sunday Times also reported that a senior source in the party said that Cottrell had “reprised his role as one of [Farage’s] top fundraisers”. //

Why would Farage seek the employment of a convicted money launderer?

Danny; //reprise can also mean to repeat an action (fundraising would be an action) //

No it doesn't, and even if it did, it is written ending with the d which makes it sound in the passed tense.

If nobody knows what the sentence means then all comments are specious.
Khandro, the only person who doesn't know what it means would appear to be you.Is there any chance that you might post something relevant to the OP?
It does mean “repeat” Khandro. Refusing to consult a dictionary and deciding on the meaning for yourself makes you come over a bit Humpty Dumpty :-)
And the tense is also correct.
Now, about the question .. :-)
Square brackets are used when a quote has been amended for clarity.

In the original quote from The Times, the original word was "his" but using "[Farage's]" shows it was him that was being spoken about.
Actors often reprise a role they may have done a fair few year ago.
In this context, reprising his role means returning to a role that he held previously.

It's not complicated.
Ludwig, it appears to be for at least one person.
If he's done his time, it's a decent act to give the guy a chance to prove he is a reformed character and use the finance skills he presumably has.
OK, I accept that it has now has new usage, but I've never heard it before in this kind of political context, it is still though largely, if not wholly a musical/ theatrical term.

[i] Early on, reprise was a part in a song or other musical composition that is repeated. The word still carries that meaning, but now it's more likely to be used as a verb to describe an action or part that is repeated, often a performance. For example, if you played a role in a wildly successful film that is going to have a sequel, you would reprise your role. The word comes from the French word repris, meaning "take back." [i]
Gordon Brown wants the Brexit party investigated because they have raised huge amounts of money via small (under £500) donations. So unless there are 500 donations of £499 by the same person I think they are clutching at straws.

But straws are all they have left because they have used up every lie and fear tactic they could throw at Brexit. And they are now desperately hopping a fishing trip will yield results.

// On 22 July 2016, while attending the Republican National Convention with Farage, Cottrell was arrested by IRS agents at Chicago O'Hare International. Cottrell was federally indicted on 21 counts for conspiracy to commit money laundering, wire fraud, blackmail and extortion. Denied bail by a judge who branded Cottrell a "serious flight risk" he was detained in custody at Metropolitan Correctional Center, Chicago.[7]

Cottrell's indictment states how in 2014 he met with undercover federal agents in Las Vegas, where he conspired to launder millions of dollars worth of drug money using offshore bank accounts. However, following a plea agreement in December 2016, prosecutors agreed to dismiss 20 counts in return for a guilty plea to a single count of wire fraud in which Cottrell admitted to explaining various ways criminal proceeds could be laundered. //

Stranf choice as the Brexit Party’s chief fundraiser.
He seems a Svengali like figure.

Perhaps his milkshake brings all the cash to the cause.

'The Guardian understands that Cottrell has told friends'
ie. The Guardian has just made something up.
FARAGE was asked about getting the £450,00 from Arron Banks' companies. He denied it and said it was gossip.

Odd then that a spokesman for Arron Banks confirmed the payments and the £450 ,000.

They can't both be right.
Has anyone launched an inquiry into the funds donated by Soros to the Remainiac agitators? Soros of course himself being convicted of insider trading. Perhaps we will soon have a full account of all the foreign money pumped into the pro EUSSR anti democratic campaign and when the time is ripe bring them to book. Stay happy you Brexiteers we have them clutching at straws as they go down for the third time gasping for oxygen.
"FARAGE was asked about getting the £450,00 from Arron Banks' companies. He denied it and said it was gossip."

I think he might have misunderstood and meant to say that Banks didn't donate the cash himself, just funnelled it from Russia through diamond mines.

He didn't get good value from his £5,000 per person, per month security detail though, did he? I wonder who will be paying for the dry cleaning.
Togo. They're just getting their excuses in early. Lol, they're as predictable as they're pathetic.
