He may indeed be an odious, Tory gammon - but I struggle to see anything wrong in his instinctive reaction to an intruder approaching a senior member of the Government.
A question for those who think he acted with inappropriate force :
"If it had been a tan coloured bloke with a beard and a turban and a flowing robe, would the MP have been right in stopping him?".
In today's equal society, a smart looking, white woman in a nice red frock is (potentially) every bit as dangerous - and assuming otherwise gets you (potentially again) killed.

I was merely using a useful stereotype to compare/contrast the reaction to that situation with how some (possibly rather innocent) people seem to think we should be treating a 'nice young lady in a frock' ...

Having done a bit of that in my time I have to say that I would have had my Smith and Wesson out and pointed, even if I didn't actually fire, had I been there.
