The thing is, I don't think throwing acid at somebody is anything to joke about. It's just not funny.

Acid attacks are not funny.
and who is the facist from the right.?
Tora
It would be very unusual for a joke to be the motive for an aggravated assault, the intention of a joke is to make people laugh.
People have different senses of humour (or none), but all this hysteria about a one liner is well over the top.

unless you have been the victim of an acid attack ^
the fascists are mainly on the left these days, look at the Labour Party!
I suppose this is the very thread for caustic comments, OTT or otherwise.

Someone may intervene.
Douglas9401, basically, yes it is.
I expect she didn't - what other reaction did you think you were going to get?
If you listen to the News quiz a lot is said about people which is close to the knuckle
However I don't think they mean it

Although ,thinking about it , who knows
Bazile - // If you listen to the News quiz a lot is said about people which is close to the knuckle //

As you would expect - the News Quiz is a satirical look at the news with comedians making humorous observations not intended to be taken seriously - because they are comedians.

Can anyone think of any other comedians who have acted in a similar way recently?
I accpt that the thread title might be a joke, but it may just highlight a genuine issue some have with understanding and distinguishing humour with reality. Sort of takes attention off a real issue either way.
Reading some of the replies it seems the title may not have been a joke. Pity, would have thought better of the writer.

It amazes me how many folk have no idea how to distinguish between humour and reality. Surely so many can't be that unable to see the difference ? It doesn't seem possible but all the signs are there. For example one hears something that's clearly jest due to outrageous exaggeration, then when something similar occurs they try to connect the two. What is it with some that such simple understanding seems missing ?

acid attacks were a feature of London life long before Brand mentioned them. She responds to events, as comedians do, not the other way round.
There have been several threads about this and she has been defended to the hilt by most ABers. Those that didn't are either fascist, stupid or both (apparently).
I don't see this as a thread to attack or defend Jo Brand but inevitable given the title I suppose.

Interesting no one has commented on my earlier mention that one of those attacked this weekend has publicly announced his revenge.

Could there be an outside possibility each party is known to the other or are they really all under the hypnotic sway of a middle aged female comedian?
She used to be funny, now she's just bigotted.
LOL jo brand said battery acid and all of a sudden she is responsible for all the acid attacks.

You know they were well established before she commented on them? At least one a day in London alone, let alone the whole UK.

This brand bashing really is ignorant and juvenile.
Ironically people also joke about murder, car crashes, school shootings, animal abuse and racism.

Ironically no one blames comedians for being racist scum

really? are you not old enough to remember Bernard Manning?
