Yes and officials are impartial (save for the odd match-fixing scandal).
In many football matches there are often a number of questionable decisions against the same side which can sometimes appear to give the impression of bias but this simply serves to question the integrity of the officials and that is plain wrong.
They do their best to oversee the game often in the face of appalling hostility and errant behaviour.
In this instance, to claim racism is utterly absurd and merely accentuates the immorality of the Cameroon camp.
Harshly though they may have been treated at times, Cameroon must accept that sometimes in football decisions go against you. That does not give them the right to demonstrate the way that they did.
The fact that this was a televised match, on the world stage, where the conduct of the team has been exposed in a poor light, sets a terrible example to young girls keen on pursuing a career in the game.
The authorities have to take a firm stance to prevent this sort of nonsense occuring again.

I’m very disappointed. This thread hasn’t come anywhere close to my expectations. No convoluted twists where it’s proposed that too many Camaroonians (?) are coming here playing that awful reggie music. No people defending it saying the NHS will fall apart if we make them all leave.
Very disappointed. Very.

Jack at 12.01 today you state that VAR can overrule the referee. Is that really the case now? Has is changed from // After a VAR review, the referee has three options: overturn their decision based on VAR advice, review the incident themselves on a touchline TV before deciding, or stick with their original decision. \\
Thanks.
Thanks.
That certainly seems to have been what is happening.
There will be an 'incident' the ref will wave away appeals and decide that play will continue only to be told that VAR are looking at it and then she has to bring the game to a halt whilst it properly investigated. Often she then has to leave the pitch to view the footage and make a decision based on her interpretation of what she has just seen.
It must be more frustrating for the players than it is for the viewers....

OP, if it had being the over way around FIFA would have been so on the case ready to ban any English team, yes they should be at least suspended for the next tournament.
Gromit: When VAR is used in the English Premier League next season it is going to be terrible.
I'm fearing for the worst as well, especially as it seems such a shambles thus far.

VAR has got to be a good thing when you think about some of the ridiculous injustices that have occurred because of bad refereeing decisions. I'm sure the fans wouldn't have minded waiting a minute for the 'Hand of God' goal to be overturned for example.
It probably needs some refining in the way it's used in practice, but generally speaking it's a step forward.

It works the other way Ludwig too though. My example of the Argentinian ref of the World Cup Final 2018 who made the correct decision not to award a penalty. VAR then put him in about ten minds. He walks away from the screen having reviewed the footage and then inexplicably walked back to look again and then gave a penalty!
This was the World Cup Final for god's sake.
A good tournament spoiled by that decision and an equally shocking penalty award by a Paraguayan ref too in an earlier match...
